Knowing how worried some of you were has motivated us to create this website. We know it would have been a comfort these past few days to have been able to log on and view the latest information from the Florida Jacksonville Mission.
We hope you will check in on a regular basis, good weather or bad, and perhaps get a glimpse of your missionary as we continue to post photos taken at Zone Conferences and other meetings. Enjoy!

What a wonderful idea this is - thank you President and Sister Newman! I was very worried about tropical storm Fay, and I kept checking the internet for any updates. This will help ease our concerns about our missionaries. We love all of you missionaries! We love and appreciate President and Sister Newman too!
Thanks for this wonderful blog spot. What a great idea! I wasn't worried about tropical storm Fay, but it is still nice to get an update from you. I figured the Lord would protect his beloved missionaries, and I was further reassured by my son's comment: "I am hoping to go to the Orlando Temple the day Fay is supposed to hit as it is my birthday, and there can't be a much safer place to be than the House of the Lord!". It was also nice to see the new companion he is training, Elder Danielson, and Sister Fairbanks, who just finished her mission. We were best friends with the Fairbanks family when our children were young, and we were living in Texas. Lovely to see your smiling faces, too, Pres. and Sis. Newman! Love, Sister Amanda Scheuermann
Our missionary sent us a video clip of himself and his new companion traveling from Palatka to Gainesville in tropical storm Fay. The footage was shot from inside the car and the 2 missionaries were laughing and talking with confidence. Friends we shared the video with asked us if we worried about him with the storms. I reminded them that he had survived from age 14-19 hopping onto 4-wheelers, boats, skis, snowmobiles, wake boards, long boards, etc. with crazy teenage friends. Why would we worry now that he has less access to toys and a better purpose? Our missionaries were preserved to do the work of the Lord and hopefully faithfully doing the Lord's work will in turn preserve them. Thanks President and Sister Newman for being substitute parents for a time!
