Coming to the End - JAX West Zone

The Jacksonville West Zone is the last zone that we will visit and interview/train on this tour. The West Zone covers the whole west side so it is long and skinny. The north end is the lower income part of the city with the south end more of a middle class area.
Just a note about Jacksonville. It is the largest city in the US geographically. When you enter the city limits on the north west you still have about 38 miles till you get to downtown and about 45 minutes to the mission home. So these missionaries cover a lot of area.

These four elders live in a third story apartment just to the right of the picture.  They live in Orange Park.   Elder Chadwick on the left (next to Pres. Barry) and Elder Robbs on the right are companions.  They serve in the Fleming Island 2nd Ward.  Elder Squires and Elder Taylor (in the middle) serve in the Fleming Island 1st Ward.  They are not actually in the West Zone but in the JAX South Zone.  It's a funny thing that the Fl. Is. 2nd Ward is in the JAX West Stake and the Fl Is. 1st Ward in the the JAX South stake and they go to the same building!  I haven't figured that out yet. 

This is Elder Maxfield and Elder Dandridge.  They live and serve in Middleburg.  It has one ward.  It is a cute family type community. 

This is Elder Udy and Elder Day.  They live in Orange Park and serve in the Orange Park 1st Ward.  Have you noticed the picture of Christ in almost every missionary's window?  It we can't find an apartment of a missionary in a complex...we just look for the evidence of a disciple of Christ.

These four Spanish speaking elders really do live in the basement.  I am on the ground level taking the picture.  It's actually a  2 story apartment but the entrance is below ground level.  Elder Gillis and Elder Barrionuevo on the left are companions.  Elder Toney (arms crossed)) and Elder Johnson (next to Pres.) are companions.  All four serve in the Orange Park 2nd Ward

This is Sister Cutler and Sister Patterson.  The also live and serve in the Orange Park 2nd Ward in Orange Park.  Their apartment is on the 2nd floor of this building, directly above our heads.  The 2nd Ward is a very missionary minded ward. 

These 4 elders live in Jacksonville and serve in the Timuquana Ward.  Elder Clements on the left is a companion with Elder Barnes, in the middle.  Elder Elms is second from the left and he is a companion to Elder Dyerly, next to President Barry.

 Elder Svedin on the left is being trained by the zone leaders of this zone, Elder Graham and Elder Jackson.  They live in Jacksonville and serve in the Normandy Ward.  Elder Jackson's phone rang just as I snapped this picture.  They are quick with that phone! 



Elder Marquez and Elder DiCristofano feel like they live and breathe on these bikes...they do!  They live in the same apartment as the zone leaders, above, and also serve in the Normany Ward.  This is a very large area of Jacksonville.   



Elder Wilkey and Elder Leavitt are standing right outside their door with President Barry.  They live in Jacksonville and serve in the Whitehouse Ward - another huge area geographically.  Luckily they have a car. 



We love the couples in this mission.  This is Sister and Elder Banks.  They have been here since December.  They live in a nice trailer home in Jacksonville and serve in the Whitehouse Ward.  They work with less actives to bring them back into the church and they are doing a wonderful job.  They are full of love and compassion.  Thank you.

Elder and Sister Shirley!!  This is our wonderful office couple.  They keep the mission running.  She is the mission secretary and he is the financial secretary.  He likes to say that he keeps President Barry out of jail...and he is good at it.  They serve in the Whitehouse Ward helping in the ward leadership.  They live just a few minutes from the mission home.  We love you!



We love your missionaries, more now than ever before.  Thank you for preparing and sending such good and dedicated missionaries to serve the Lord.  They are doing it with all their hearts, might, minds and strength.  You should be so proud of them.
