Zone Conferences

Zone Conference come around every 3 months.  One or two zones will meet with the Mission Presidency, Assistants and Office Staff for various trainings.  We had 4 Zone Conferences this time held all over the mission.  Our focus was "Short Powerful Lessons".   Missionaries were given pre-conference assignments to prepare.  They studied sections of Preach My Gospel on how to give short powerful lessons and were to prepare and practice lessons on different subjects one of which was the Restoration - all before they came.  They were expected to be able to teach the whole Restoration lesson in 4 minutes. Trainings were given by President Barry on the Doctrine of Christ and Repentance and by Sister Barry on Charity vs Pride.  Zone Leaders taught how to receive revelation through prayer and then we role played teaching the Restoration in 4 minutes and getting the investigator on their knees to pray to know if what they learned was true.  It's harder than you think to be short in words but powerful.

We were blessed to have trainings by specialists in the mission.  Elder Sparks, who is in charge of the cars and safety, gave a training on driving safely, something all 20 year olds need!  The North America South East Area has two doctors serving missions here.  Sister Beckwith is our Area Mental Health Advisor and she gave a wonderful training on Managing Stress.  Elder Rose is our Area Medical Advisor.  His wife gave a training on how to go home in the same size of clothes you came in.  A great and needed training especially when we eat all this great Southern cooking. Thanks to these wonderful missionaries.
Our afternoon session included training and role playing to give short powerful messages at the door or on the street according to an investigator's questions of the soul.
The highlight of the day is always a testimony meeting.  Wow, these young missionaries have growing and vibrant testimonies.  The experiences and trials of their mission are shaping them into usable instruments in the Lord's hands.  It's inspiring to watch.  I love your missionaries!!!   Enjoy all the pictures.
President Barry doing what he loves to do!  -  He is a great teacher and trainer.  (No he isn't whistling)
Thank you for your inspired direction, President
